Things to know about living in Cedar Flat and Tahoe

  • Review the Association's CC&Rs, and Rules and abide by them. If you have questions, contact Amanda Moore.

    Remember to pick up after your pet and take pet waste with you for disposal. View the Placer County leash law at: www.placer.ca.gov.

    Many mountain dwellers and visitors prefer star-lit night skies to bright lights. Please be aware of your outdoor lighting impacts including direction, intensity, frequency and duration of use. Talk to your neighbors to be sure they aren't bothered by your outdoor lighting and come to mutual agreement.

  • Be informed:

    1. Attend quarterly and annual board meetings. Our online calendar has the latest upcoming meetings

    2. Read the latest board meeting minutes and quarterly newsletters

    Get involved:

    1. Ask questions and share feedback, ideas and concerns with Board and Committee members.

    2. Volunteer your time and expertise to serve on a Committee and/or the Board of Directors. Often additional members are needed.

  • Bears and other wildlife live amongst us, and it’s important to secure your trash, home and vehicles to discourage nuisance wildlife and prevent costly break-ins.

    1. Lock windows and doors when leaving your property.

    2. Trash pickup day is Thursday. Never place trash outside of your bear box.

    3. Promptly remove beverages, groceries, leftovers and other aromatic items (such as coconut oil sunscreens), close windows and always lock your vehicle.

    Coyotes are harder to spot but also frequent the neighborhood. Please keep a close eye on small children and pets of all sizes.

    Fuel loads remain extremely high in the Lake Tahoe basin, and you are responsible for maintaining defensible space on your property. Cleaning up pine needles and removing combustible fuels and dead trees annually protects your home, the neighborhood, and may prevent homeowners insurance cancellations due to increased fire risk.

    Absolutely NO Outdoor Charcoal or Wood Fired Grills or Wood Fires Allowed: Solid fuel recreational fires including fire pits, and charcoal, lump charcoal and wood fired grills are no longer allowed during fire season, generally May through November.

    Red Flag Warnings: During Red Flag periods, all forms of open flame or prohibited. This includes the use of gas fueled grills and fire pits. Visit the North Tahoe Fire Protection District website at www.ntfire.net and click on the National Weather Service link to check for current restrictions.

  • CFIA lakefront, beach and pier access is located at 4370 North Lake Boulevard. Please be courteous and act responsibly when visiting this treasured amenity, as it belongs to all of us to enjoy.

    1. Drop off passengers with care and do not park vehicles in front of the double gate.

    2. Dogs are NOT allowed between 10am and 4pm except when boarding a vessel.

    3. Pack out your trash and do not leave trash outside of the bear box if it is full.

    4. Quiet Hours are from 9 p.m. – 8 a.m.

    5. Personal watercraft must be removed from the lakefront racks by mid-October.

  • How do I join the mooring field?
    Fill out the application on AppFolio and send to Amanda at amandam@gpeak.com. or email Amanda with questions.

    Deadline to Join
    All homeowners can become participants of CFIA's Mooring Field Participation Plan at any time. To ensure you are eligible for the next lottery, the application and initiation fee must be completed and submitted to Amanda Moore by December 15th.

    In order to be entered into the annual buoy lottery held in February, applications are sent to participants the first week of January and must be returned within 30 days or as stated on the application.

  • Our narrow roads and their easements are owned, maintained and improved by CFIA. There is no street parking or parking in dirt adjacent to streets at any time. CFIA speed limit is 15 mph. Drive safely and watch out for walkers, riders, children and pets. Please take special care during the winter months.

  • Cedar Flat short-term (vacation rentals for stays of 30 days or less) and long-term rentals must comply with CFIA Rental Rules outlined at CedarFlat.org. Additionally, Short-term Rentals (STRs) must comply with Placer County STR Ordinance outlined at: www.placer.ca.gov.

    If you STR or LTR rent your property, you are responsible for completing and submitting an annual Rental Registration Form and Cedar Flat STR fee in the fall and each time you STR your property you are responsible for completing and submitting a Rental Notification form prior to your guests' check-in date providing the required information to Granite Peak Management. Further, you are responsible for making renters aware of CFIA and Placer County rental rules.

    If you are impacted or suspect a violation by an STR including noise, parking, trash, or any other violation of Placer County’s STR Ordinance, call 24/7 at (530) 448-8003 or email strcompliance@placer.ca.gov. Include your name, phone number, address of the property you are reporting and a description of the violation occurring. If you are reporting a noise violation after midnight, call Placer County Sheriff Non-Emergency line at (530) 886-5375.

  • Winter driving can be treacherous and access to your property may change depending on conditions. Roads and driveways (optional) are plowed by a Cedar Flat snow removal contractor and invoiced through CFIA prior to the snow season.
